About Madie
My fitness endeavors started early in college when I discovered the magic + zest of movement.
In 2008, I received the life-changing news I had been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease known as: Type One Diabetes. This diagnosis forced me to be hyper-aware of the nutritional content of foods.
After settling into a four-year university, I began to eat and drink mindlessly without prioritizing physical activity. I started to chase a goal to simply “get healthy”. Getting healthy didn’t involve nutrition, but instead trying to mimic a specific physique: being as small as possible.
I no longer connected with the joy of movement, as it turned into a chore. I could barely exercise and was eating less than 1,000 calories per day.
I was able to make a 180 turning training + nutrition back into real health.
My passion to heal myself, lead to a passion to help others heal along side me.
I took a deep dive into learning about nutrition + resistance training. After reverse dieting and gaining back about 30 pounds, I restored my hormonal health and discovered the raw joy of muscle gain, endurance + stamina.
Years of working with diet + strength-training professionals gave me the foundation to help others learn (+ unlearn) about the health and wellness industry.
